Medspa Mastery Course Goes Virtual

Article

Conferences and in-person trainings are canceled due to Coronavirus. Dr. Mike Nayak responds by hosting his Medspa Mastery course online with #nofilter on Facebook live this week.

In the time of Coronavirus, conferences and meetings for the aesthetic specialty, like many others, have been postponed or cancelled. However, this doesn’t mean that learning also stops.

L. Mike Nayak, M.D., Nayak Plastic Surgery, Frontenac, MO, alongside a bevy of aesthetic professionals, are hosting a virtual learning course from April 7-9 that you can watch in the comfort of your home while continuing safe social-distancing and self-quarantine practices.

The course, Medspa Mastery, has been offered in-person for the last few years, but in light of the current situation, Dr. Nayak thought it was the perfect time to go virtual.

“We have considered doing an online option in the last year or so, but never got around to it,” he says. “We were still going to hold the meeting live, but have an option to stream it if you didn’t want to fly in. We really never considered making it completely virtual before. But, at this moment, we have a unique opportunity to make something good out of a bad situation.”

Covering everything from social media, surgical and nonsurgical treatments and fat versus filler, “presenters range from practicing plastic, cosmetic, dermatologic surgeons, mid-level providers, and medical spa business owners,” according to the course’s webpage. “Each is an expert in their field, as well as being an expert in the business and social aspects of the medical spa industry.”

There will also be a presentation by Esther Choo, M.D., addressing “the current state of the coronavirus crisis, and with its implications might be for the future of cosmetic medicine,” according to the webpage.

Other speakers include Sam Lam, M.D., Joe Niamtu, D.M.D., and Woffles Wu, M.D.

Noting the off-the-cuff feel of the course, Dr. Nayak says that’s why it’s being called a #nofilter meeting.

“[We will have] frank panel discussions instead of polished PowerPoint presentations,” he says. “Lots of direct questions and answers with lots of audience interaction. When I go to a medical meeting, the podium presentations are interesting, but most of my real education comes from having discussions with my peers in the hallways or in the evenings after the meeting is over. We are taking that type of interaction and putting it front and center.”

Individual attendee registration fee is $750. If two people are signing up together, the 2-Attendee Package is just $1,000.

You can also get a $250 discount by using the code NAYAK250.

In order to livestream the course, you must provide the email address associated with your Facebook account in the notes section of the cart when purchasing. If you are taking advantage of the 2-Attendee Package, please provide both email addresses in the notes section of your purchase.

A unique viewing link to the course will be sent out through the supplied email address before the start of each course day.
