Alastin TransFORM Study Shows Skin Rejuvenation

Article

A study published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal examines the efficacy of TransFORM Body Treatment with TriHex Technology over 12 weeks.

Alastin Skincare, Inc, recently announced a study published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal1 (ASJ) saw positive results with their TransFORM Body Treatment with TriHex Technology (TransFORM) for skin rejuvenation.

The study examined the effects of TransFORM vs a bland moisturizer after being applied twice a day on the inner and over parts of the forearm for 12 weeks. The investigators assessed results by a histological biopsy of new collagen and elastin creation and amount of hyaluronic acid, skin texture—roughness or smoothness—via photographic analysis, and skin thickness and elasticity compared to baseline.

Results found arms treated with TransFORM achieved higher amounts of new collagen and elastin and the stimulation of the CD44 receptor, which is associated with the formation of new hyaluronic acid, compared to the bland moisturizer. According to the photo analysis, TransFORM-treated arms also saw a greater increase in smoothness overall vs the bland moisturizer, specifically in the inner arm, where the bland moisturizer treated arm saw no change. Results from both elasticity devices, Torsionometer (Carruthers Instruments) and DermaLab Combo (Cortex Technology), confirmed similar trends of increased elasticity on the TransFORM treated arms.

"As evaluated by photography, histology, and patient reported outcomes, TransFORM was shown to be more effective than the bland moisturizer in rejuvenating aging/sun damaged skin and had a pronounced effect on the production of new collagen and elastin. TransFORM had an even more pronounced effect on the level of smoothness and production of new collagen and elastin in non-sun exposed skin,” says Jean Carruthers, MD, one of the study authors and president and CEO of Carrutherss Instruments, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in a press release announcing the study results.2 “This supports the concept of "Prejuvenation" [early treatment to prevent the appearance of aging]. Early treatment of the skin with a product such as TransFORM prior to extensive sun exposure may help strengthen the skin and reduce the appearance of aging even after exposure to the sun, which is the cause of 90% of skin aging."
